Hon. Felix Perera, Minister of Social Services addressing in the Parliament on 20th December 2011 when the vote relating to the Ministry was taken place, said that the disadvantaged partners namely persons with disabilities, senior citizens and families headed by single parents are served in numerous ways so as to enhance the wellbeing of those persons in the country. The services extended to the persons include provision of assistive devices, grants for construction of homes of pwds, Rs. 3,000/- monthly allowance for disabled persons under Mahinda Chintana programme and counseling services to the needy persons in general.
