In parallel to Deyata Kirula National Development Programme, the Ministry has been taken actions to construct two new houses for each  Divisional Secreratariat Division in Anuradhapura district. (22 Divisional Secretariat  divisions)  Total cost estimated for 44 houses is around Rs 11Mn.   This project is in addition to the existing housing assistance  programme for Persons with Disabilities.  In the 2nd  stage,  this special housing project will expand to the district of Polonnaruwa, Hambantota, Gampaha and Kurunagala.  Having considered this new initiatives, most underserved disabled persons/Families are immensely benefitted in the country, in addition to the monthly payment of Rs 3,000/- under the Mahinda Chintana Programme.
