An awareness workshop on Accessibility Regulations for the Persons with Disabilities was held in the District Secretariat, Mullativu on 3^rd May, 2013. Mrs.Emelda Sukumar, Secretary, Ministry of Social Services, Mr.M.D.C.Jayamanne, Director, National Secretariat for Persons with Disablities, Mr.V.Subramaniam, Council Member for the National Council for Persons with Disabilities and Mr.Thissa Weerasingha, Technical Officer of the Ministry of Social Services were participated as resource persons. Engineers and Technical Officers of the District Secretariat, Divisional Secretariats and local authorities of Mullativu District participated at the awareness programme. This awareness programme was organized by Mr.N.Vethanayagam, District Secretary, Mullativu.

It has been decided to attach 407 Graduate Trainees to the Ministry of Social Services. Accordingly under the Patronage the Hon. Felix Perera Hon. Minister of Social Services a ceremony for awarding of recruitment letters for 85 Graduate Trainees selected from Galle, Puttalam, Kegalle, Kurunagala, Kandy and Ampara districts was held on 29^th April 2013 at the Auditorium of Urban Development Authority 7^th floor, Sethsiripaya.

Mrs. Emelda Sukumar, Secretary Ministry of Social Services Mrs. N.K. Abeyratne, Additional Secretary (Admin), Mr. M.C.L. Fernando, Additional Secretary (Development) including large number of officials were participated at the event. Key note address was delivered by Mr. Sumith Perera Director, Ministry of Western Provincial Education on “The future challenges of Social Services”.

These trainees are attached as Development Officer to the Ministry of Social Services, Department of Social Services and Divisional Secretariats.
